Hi, I’m Annabelle! I am an earth scientist, science communicator and freelance illustrator, born in Germany but raised in Yorkshire.

By trade, I research volcanoes. My work focuses on some largest volcanic eruptions around the globe. I visit these volcanoes, take samples and busy away in the labs to understand why lava erupts at the same time as large ash columns.

Alongside this, I have a volcanic-sized love for illustrating science! I have illustrated for many top journals as a freelance artist, so I know what makes an eye-catching figure for publication. Being a published scientist myself, I know how important it is that our work is clearly communicated, and there’s nothing better than seeing your hard work captured in a beautiful figure!
